Contemporary Movement Research Dervish Dance Neuro.Dervish

“I bring together scientific and artistic thinking, using dance and physical movement as a way to make consciousness, expression and the perception of change tangible.
For me, dancing is always more than a physical language: it is a form of thinking and shaping.”

Anna Rita Cedroni is a Vienna-based artist whose research explores perception, sensory integration and transformation through movement. Her practice approaches the body as a political, perceiving and relational field — moving between choreography, performance and somatic research through states of transformation, ambiguity and resistance.

She trained in classical and modern dance in Rome and continued her education in Vienna, with ongoing training alongside Frey Faust, Peter Jasko, Kenji Tagaki, Lucas Condrò (Asymmetrical Motion) and Juan Jesús Guiraldi. Her practice includes a sustained dedication to Butoh, somatic research, Feldenkrais, the Axis Syllabus and the Dervish In Progress (DIP) formation with Ziya Azazi. She is currently completing a degree in Sports Sciences at Università e-Campus, Rome — a study that directly informs her research in Neuro.Dervish and the Dervish Lab.

Trained also as an architect, she is the founder of DivArtis in Vienna. Since 2017 she has worked as producer and dramaturg alongside Juan Jesús Guiraldi, with productions including Makinal, El Gomero, CLARITY, Dancing the Silence.

IM KREIS

Edition #5 · Opening: Whirling Together — A Shared Space for Practice and Connection

After the summer break, IM KREIS opens the new season with a special evening dedicated to practice, exchange and a first public sharing of the research currently developing within DivArtis. The evening begins with sharing experiences that have emerged through our own practice of whirling, then moves into a participatory movement demonstration open to everyone — no previous experience required. The evening then opens into IM KREIS itself: a space to move, practise, encounter and reconnect after the summer.

Dervish Lab Practice

Exploring awareness through whirling, perception and orientation.

Dervish Lab Practice returns in September with a renewed, structured format. Rather than a series of independent workshops, it develops as a progressive practice: each session builds on the previous one. Through whirling and structured movement tasks, we explore balance, spatial orientation, body perception and coordination — in growing dialogue with movement science and neuroscience. This session also introduces the next step of Neuro.Dervish: preparing small research-oriented practice groups. No previous whirling experience is required.

Thursday 24 September 2026 · 18:00–20:00

DivArtis · West Post Wien · Schumanngasse 101 · 1170 Wien

The Lab includes a short presentation of Dervish Lab Practice, a guided entry into the practice, and whirling sessions.

Movimiento Constante & Acrobatic Disposition

with Juan Jesús Guiraldi

This Workshop arises from the research to explore the connection of our body with the surrounding space in a holistic perception, a 360° perspective, in which humans and the world are seen as one. The aim is also to improve our way of linking different languages and qualities of movement, to develop a muscular tone that allows us to move from one movement to another in a fluid way with awareness and to diversify strength, will and intention. The technic of improvisation allows us to generate spatial awareness, in an intimate space, but also in an opened space, tracing it with different speeds, times and weight, expanding our temporal relationships, creating, and putting into practice different poetic imaginaries.

“Movimiento Constante is presence, construction, destruction, relation, production. It is a democratic state of the body and of the mind.” (JJG)
